Some weeks we have healthy food options, but often times we don’t. We have the famous chicken options; like fried chicken, grilled chicken, chicken with spaghetti. By the end of the year, you feel that you have become a chicken that is going to lay an egg any second, or even have wings and start clucking, “I believe I can fly” while flying across the wall of King’s, but I’m sorry to crush this dream; because chickens don’t fly for at high height.
The most critical days that would test your self-determination would be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Due to the dessert that the school offers; at this time, you may start stressing out and drooling at the sight of seeing the dessert, and your hand may start lingering around that piece of cookie, or any sort of dessert, when this happens, all I can say is “stay strong”, but this is not over yet; for the hardest time is when your adviser or the advisees would offer you a piece of the dessert, that’s the trap that many would fall into. So, be careful of their devious smile, and don’t take it.
Another obstacle that you face is of course dorm treats, which is for some a dream come true, but a nightmare for many. When the dorm gets treat at 10 pm!!! That’s when all hell breaks loose, and your mind starts playing a game of compromises, where it would tell you to eat today, and then go to the gym the next day. And, of course some need to stop lying to themselves; because they won’t go to the gym the next day.
Accept that sometimes it is okay to have cheat days. Sometimes, our bodies would crave eating junk food, but just don’t binge eat. Think about it this way: Why waste all the self-resistance days by binge eating junk food when you survive days without eating junk food. This just shows that you don’t need to eat junk food.
